As the new general manager of your newspaper, I first want to thank everyone in the Bainbridge community for their warm welcome and hospitality towards my wife, Alison, and me. We are both very grateful for this opportunity, and we look forward to our involvement with such a wonderful community.
As Alison and I were contemplating a move to Bainbridge, we both quickly recognized the huge potential and great opportunity for growth Bainbridge offers. During our initial visit, as we worked our way around town we were met with warm welcomes and smiling faces, which spoke volumes to us about the community we were considering and now will call home, and certainly added to the many reasons why we felt a move to Bainbridge would be good for us.
Prior to accepting this position, I worked at the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News as their Digital Sales Specialist. With a strong background in digital advertising, I believe that I can be an asset to local businesses in reaching customers in this new digital age, but my ultimate goal is to assist those I work with in producing a quality community newspaper and print and digital products that accurately reflect the many positive aspects of Bainbridge and Decatur county – and to be a productive citizen of this area.
Alison and I both graduated from the University of Alabama and met a couple of years later through a small group at our local church. We are expecting our first child in early May, and our excitement grows more and more each day to welcome our little one into the world. In my spare time, I love to spend time with family and friends, as well as travel to new places and explore new areas. Whether a quick weekend/day trip or visiting another country, with every new place, I enjoy experiencing its unique culture and cuisine.
Each year, I like to plan trips to other countries. A personal goal of mine is to visit 50 countries in my lifetime, and I’m well on my way having already visited 21. So far, my favorite city is Prague, Czech Republic for its great food, historical charm, and beautiful landscapes. With just a couple of short weekend visits, I have seen the beauty of southern Georgia, and I look forward to exploring more throughout my time here.
Alison and I can’t wait to see what this new chapter holds, and knowing that God has brought us to a loving, caring community such as your own, brings us comfort and confidence. We look forward to meeting you and discovering more about Bainbridge and the area it serves.
I will be spending my first few weeks here making my way around the community and meeting some of you, but if you need to reach me, please call my desk phone at 229-495-6117 , my cell phone 205-657-8425, email me at john.wells@thepostsearchlight.com , or stop by the newspaper. I would love to visit and get your thoughts on how you think we can improve your newspaper.
