While Christmas is a time for families to celebrate together, not every family can afford to spend as much on gifts. And for some children, they may not even have a family to spend the holiday with. In response to this, West Haven, Care 360 and The Bridge Medical Group are partnering to provide toys for foster kids. For their part, West Haven has provided a list of what local foster kids both want and need for Christmas to Care360, who in turn, has set up an angel tree in their office, as have The Bridge. The tree features ornaments with the name of children and what they want written on them. Anyone can come in and pick a child to give to, and for every toy a person donates, they will be entered into a raffle, with the prize being a one hour massage per month, for an entire year.
“We’ve been doing this for about 15 years,” Dr. Landin Marzolf from Care 360 told the Post Searchlight. “We did something similar with the radio station until about 4 to 5 years ago.”
Nurse practitioner Angie Tyus with The Bridge commented, “Children are dear to me. I just want to give back and support the community when I can.”
The deadline for donations is Friday, December 18th. For more information, Care360 can be reached at (229) 248-8499, The West Haven at (229) 726-5945, and The Bridge Medical Group at 229-246-8850.
