Qualifying for a Brinson Council Seat begins Monday

The Town of Brinson has called for a special election to fill the vacancy of the seat formerly held by Council Member Thomas Powell, who resigned.
Qualifying for the council seat will begin on Monday, Feb. 1, at 8:30 a.m. at the Board of Elections Office located at the Courthouse Annex at 122 W. Water St. in downtown Bainbridge. Qualifying will end at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
The qualifying fee shall be $43.20. The Elections Office can only accept checks or money orders.
Those who qualify must be electors within the Town of Brinson. The term of the office is to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Powell, which will end on Dec. 31, 2021. Brinson will hold its regular municipal elections on Nov. 2, as well as the cities of Bainbridge and Climax.
The special election will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. This special election is in conjunction countywide election for the Board of Education’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) renewal and bond issuance.
All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the March 16th Special Elections may register through the close of business on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Early voting will ONLY be held at the Elections Office at the Courthouse Annex located at 122 W. Water St. Early voting will begin on Monday, Feb. 22, and continue through Friday, March 12. Hours for advance voting will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday voting will be March 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All polling locations in the county will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, March 16.
