A line of cars pointed to Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church as they held a food drive Thursday afternoon. The church has been holding these monthly since August of last year, with the food being purchased from the Thomasville Food Bank. While they accept donations, there is no charge for the food.
According to church member Jeanette Thompson, they provide to hundreds of families every month.
“Usually we serve between 150 and 250 every month when we serve, and that’s families… and then individuals end up being 400, 500 people.”
Food items included in the bags distributed include peanut butter, milk, eggs, tomato sauce, pasta, cooking oil, green peas, bread and meats, just to list a few.
“We just want to have everybody come out, if they’re in need of food. That’s why we’re here,” church member Brendia King said. “And if there’s a business or company that wants to donate, we accept donations,” Thompson added.
There is another drive planned for next month, though there is currently no set date. According to Thompson, they intend to host it on the third Thursday; to stay informed, the church can be reached at (229) 246-7103.
