Herman Edwin Mills was born August 17, 1948, in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Edwin & Roma Perkins Mills. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1966. He earned a technical certificate in welding and owned Mills Welding for decades. Herman was known across the southeast for his skills and dedication to “doing it right”. He married Debra Sue Grubbs in 1992, and for almost 30 years those two were inseparable. He was a member of Orion Lodge No. 8 F& AM. Herman was Baptist by faith.

Family, fishing and football…what else would you expect from a good ol’ southern boy? Herman enjoyed every minute spent sharing stories of days gone by and living vicariously in this day through his grandchildren. Home is where his heart was, but you could catch him on occasion in Biloxi or bird hunting. NASCAR and FSU football filled his spare time on Saturdays. His thoughts were never far from what his children and grandchildren were doing or what needed to be worked on.

Survivors include his children, Jason & Bridget Mills of Wewahitchka, Fla., Dusty & Lauren Brogdon of Cataula, Ga., and Rusty & Brandi Brogdon of Climax, Ga..; his grandchildren, Walker, Drake, Chloe, Mason, Carley, Maddie, Erin, and Jalyn; his sisters, Diane M. Bishop and her husband, Mike, and Kathy M. Burch and her husband, Tom, all of Cairo; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Debra Sue Grubbs Mills; his daughter, Missy Mills Caplan; and his siblings, Archie Taylor Mills, Patricia M. Edison, and Joyce M. Whitfield.
