It’s always a great day to be a Bearcat… Bainbridge native Dr. Bruce James II creates an educational scholarship to benefit students from his hometown. Dr. Bruce James II, a graduate of the BHS Class of 2008 is representing his family and Bainbridge well. With degrees from Tuskegee University and Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy, Dr. Bruce James II is now the founder and Chief Executive Officer of HealthCare Equity Solutions. HealthCare Equity Solutions is a boutique consulting firm that specializes in providing culturally competent equitable healthcare services for historically excluded communities. Dr. James II is using his platform to give back to students in his hometown, Bainbridge, Georgia. He recently started a Reading Scholarship in an effort to promote more reading and education among young people. Dr. James stated, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. Students who struggle with reading now may definitely continue to struggle to reach their full learning potential in life.” It is his hope that this scholarship motivates students to read more and assist in closing reading gaps. The HCES Reading Scholarship (HealthCare Equity Solutions) is providing a class set of books for a novel unit of choice. This scholarship also provides a paid field trip to District 850 in Tallahassee, Florida for 25 students displaying point gains (reading growth) on their upcoming I-Ready Mid-Year Diagnostic exam.
The 2022-2023 recipient is Ms. Tiffany Rambo, a 6th grade science teacher at Bainbridge Middle School. Ms. Rambo is a native of Dr. James’ hometown of Bainbridge, Georgia and has dedicated time in science to also promote and assist with Reading/ELA standards and testing strategies.
