Joe Jack Todd was born May 25, 1929, in Ashland, Ala., the son of Emanuel & Georgia Jacobs Todd. He was a graduate of Bay County High School and Monroe Business School. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army as guard for General Douglas McArthur. He married Martha Ann Stephens in 1950, and they made their home in Panama City before moving to Bainbridge in 1965. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Stubborn, strong-willed, quiet, and generous were a few words used to describe Jack. While he may have been a man of few words, when he spoke, the weight of his words was evident. He loved his family and involved himself in their lives, enjoying every minute of his grandchildren and great-grands. He gave of his time and talents selflessly: working with the youth at the church, serving as transportation chairman and treasurer for many years, and even driving the church bus. Jack’s quiet demeanor was not an indication of his adventuresome spirit. He loved fast cars and car races. (He was a Chevy man and could probably tell you what a ’55 could do in a quarter mile.) Jack enjoyed traveling in the RV and planned stops at gun shows to satisfy the urge to check out the latest models.

Survivors include his children, Joe & Sheila Todd of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Colby & Sarah Beth, Brittany & Stephen, Kyle & Julie, and Steven & Kristen; his great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Caroline, Charlieann, Gavin, Kate, Reed, Luke, Eva, Asher, Laura Leigh, and Hunter; and his sister, Mickey Thomas of Porterville, CA. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Martha Stephens Todd, and his son, Steven Jay Todd.
