The Bainbridge Rotary Club met for their weekly meeting at the Kirbo Center on Tuesday. Before the day’s guest speaker took to the stand to speak, there was a pinning ceremony for five new rotary members. These new members were Tyler Giles, Spencer Walker, Adrian Williamson, Preston Poitevint, and Jennifer Buckner, with their sponsoring members being Roland Hancock, Jamie Sinko, Ty Smith and Bo Jones. Following this ceremony, the guest speaker of the day was ABAC president Dr. Tracy Brundage, with Dr. Michael Kirkland also speaking. Dr. Brundage began by discussing ABAC’s operations and changes since she spoke to Rotary last year. “I really want to thank everybody on the ABAC team who has supported me since I’ve arrived, and all the good work we’re doing,” she said.

Brundage also mentioned several significant events ABAC has hosted recently, including Governor Brian Kemp’s visit to the Bainbridge campus to sign farm legislation, as well as a visit by Chancellor Sonny Perdue. ABAC is also preparing to host the Carter Arts and Lecture series in the next couple of months; this will include both a musical production in September, and an environmental lecture in October.

Dr. Kirkland also took to the stand, speaking about ABAC’s dual-enrollment arrangement with local schools, as well as ABAC’s partnership with local schools to have college-level teachers teach AP classes, allowing students to earn both AP credits and have dual enrollment at the same time. Kirkland also spoke on the college’s nursing program, ranked as one of the best in this region of the state, and plans to offer nursing evening classes.
