Last Friday saw a crowd gathered upstairs at the Firehouse Arts Center for its most recent Friday at the Firehouse lunch. As September is International Women’s Friendship Month, the guest speakers for the day were Bethany McElyea and Claire Coe with Flourish Bainbridge, the new women’s wellness center located on the square. In addition to the lunch and speech, a sketch artist was also present.
Firehouse Executive Director Jessica Polsky spoke with the Post-Searchlight about the event. According to her, there were many mother-daughter attendees to the event; “It was just meant to encourage women and their friendships,” she said. “We just look forward to doing these events in the community. Our goal in the Friday at the Firehouse events is to reach populations of people that maybe don’t necessarily focus on art, and introduce them into art, and introduce our art population to other great businesses in the community.”
She concluded, saying, “We believe the heart of the community is what matters, and so we want to be part of that.”
The Firehouse will rotate out its current art selection for a new harvest theme on Friday, October 13. The current selection, “Shades of Summer” will be taken down during the first week of October.
