Memorial Hospital and Manor recently honored nurse Jackie Scruggs for its Third Quarter Daisy Award. Having been at Memorial for 20 years, Scruggs was nominated by the wife of one of her patients. “She was gentle with her care and made my husband and family feel more comfortable during a stressful situation,” her nomination read.

“I appreciate the patient that sent in the nomination and recommended the award,” Scruggs told the post-Searchlight. “When you’re a nurse, you know that every day, you’ll touch a life, or a life will touch yours,” she said. This was a quote she stated she had heard before, and was one that had a lot of meaning to her.
