Runners brave weather for Dashing Through the Glow 5k and Fun Run

Runners braved the chilly night air Thursday evening to participate in this year’s Dashing Through the Glow 5K and Fun Run. This was the second year the Bainbridge Service Club held the fundraiser, which now serves as the primary fundraiser for the club’s year-round activities.
According to Service Club member Katie Marzolf, around 135 runners participated this year. The money raised from the event will go towards the club’s activities with the Salvation Army and CASA, to name a few. “Our club bridges the gap for volunteers and financial needs in our community,” Marzolf said in a previous interview.
The runners with the fastest overall times were Elliot Butler in the men’s category, and Heather Smith in the women’s category.
In the women’s under 14 category, Tinlee Wynn came in first, with Olivia and Syndney Williamson coming in second and third respectively.
In the women’s 15-19 category, Gabriella Baker took first, while Tatiana Smith took second and Geisha Smith came in third.
For the women’s 20-39 category, Annalee Yarbrough came in first, Crystal Sekula came in second, and Piper Harrell came in third.
For the women’s 40-59 category, Heather Smith came in first, Traci Hall in second, and Dera Harkins came in third.
In the women’s 60+ category, Donna Gram came in first.
In the men’s 14 and under results, Perry Glenn took first, with James Thompson and Owen Hunt taking second and third respectively.
In the men’s 15-19 category, Jahlae Sapp came in first, Caden Godwin and Gambler Dollar came in second and third respectively.
With the men’s 20-39 category, Elliot Butler took first, Spencer Thomas took second, and Matthew Hill came in third.
For the men’s 40-59 division, Brian Smith took first, Jason Lee came in second, and Tim Langdon came in third.
Marzolf described this year’s run as “great.” “It’s just a great way to support a good cause, get in the Christmas spirit,” she said.
