Bearcat Family,
As we end another great week at Bainbridge High School, there are many great things to share, and I share just a few with immense pride. This week, our students and staff have demonstrated talents and accomplishments. Below is a brief snapshot of some of the positive things that occurred.
Bearcat Workforce NOW
With their eyes set on entering the workforce, our senior students took another significant step forward in their journey this week. Led by Mr. Alex Cherepon of Randstad, they took part in what it takes to have a successful interview. The students learned life lessons on resume building, interview etiquette, and the importance of confidence and gratitude.
BHS Performing Arts
“Frozen, Jr.” has captured the hearts of our community with its enchanting performances! Our talented students brought the magic of Arendelle to life, captivating audiences and spreading joy to all who attended. With three more opportunities to come, I encourage you to experience the wonder and talent of our Performing Arts students.
4-H Champions
Congratulations to our 4-H participants who showcased their skills and dedication at the Southwest District 4-H Project Achievement competition. Their performances, whether through speeches or project-based, reflect.

Anchor Club
Our Anchor members continue to exemplify compassion and generosity, making meaningful contributions to the Bainbridge community, from supporting local veterinary clinics to spreading Valentine’s Day cheer.
Excellence in Math and Science
The Math Department would love to share our January Bearcat Standing on Business Awards for the highest Math MAP Assessment scores. The MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test is a computer-adaptive test giving each student an RIT Score. A RIT score estimates a student’s instructional level and measures student progress or growth in school. Algebra students took their MAP tests for the final time in January and were recognized for their success and growth.
Mrs. Logue’s Earth Systems class students did a hands-on science experiment to demonstrate plate tectonics and how plates move. Using Oreos, students showed convergent, divergent, and transform plate boundaries.
Students in Environmental Science modeled the bioaccumulation and biomagnification of toxins in a food chain using M&Ms and the movement of a water molecule through the water cycle, determining when contaminants are picked up and when purification takes place.
Healthcare Science
Healthcare Science gives a big shout-out to Chief Gaines for coming to the Essentials of Healthcare class to help students obtain their fingerprints for a lab on the Integumentary System. Students completed a lab about fingerprint development and types but struggled to get a clear print. Chief Gaines quickly came to our assistance and went further to teach and show students how fingerprints are obtained. His technique allowed each student to identify their type.
Future Early Childhood Educators
This week, R’Mya Florence, Iyanna Fountain, Ja’Hara Anderson, and Nadia Shelmon joined forces to help second graders from WBP and JWP schools at the Tech Rally at the Decatur County Board of Education. Our students showed younger Bearcats how to make math problems come to life as fun animations using technology. This experience allowed them to be exposed to what being a teacher is all about. Their excitement and bright ideas helped them find new ways to make learning fun.
Arts
Art student Ansley Cook helped serve popcorn at the Firehouse Art Gallery communitywide Sketchbook Pin-Up Show this past Saturday. Multiple pieces of her art were sold at this event, along with other BHS students like Sara Logue, Aurie Harris, and Jaeda Perez.
Athletics
Athletics had a great week this week as our Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball teams had significant victories.
Bainbridge High School Girls Soccer Team defeated Thomasville 2-1
Bainbridge High School Boys Soccer Team defeated Thomasville 2-0.
Bainbridge High School Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Team defeated Valdosta 4-2
Bainbridge High School Baseball Team defeated Seminole County in a scrimmage 2-1
The Bainbridge High School Boys Basketball Team defeated Hardaway (59-52) and Early County (64-53).
As we bid farewell to another week filled with achievements and success, I encourage each of you to take time to see our Performing Arts students in action in Frozen Jr if you get the opportunity.
