Jace Weaver, Vontrey Willingham win gold, Bearcats, Cougars take track at Bainbridge meet

Bainbridge High School hosted the Annual Larry Clark Invitational over the weekend. Senior Bearcat athletes Vontrey Willingham and Jace Weaver came out of the meet with gold medals.
Willingham finished first in the 400-meter dash with a 51.73 time.
Weaver bagged two first-place finishes on the day. He won gold in the 110-meter hurdles with a 15:00 time and the 300-meter hurdles with a 40.42 time.
Bainbridge sophomore Jakharia Howard also medaled on both hurdle events. She won silver in the 300-meter hurdles with a 50.41 time and bronze in the 110-meter hurdles with a 17.35 time.
Five Bearcat relay teams got on the podium Saturday. The boys’ 4×100 meter, 4×400 meter, and 4×800 meter relays all finished second. The 4×100 team ran a 43.22 time, the 4×400 team ran a 3:31.71 time, and the 4×800 team ran a 9:07.84 time. The girls’ 4×100 meter and 4×400 meter relay teams both finished third. The 4×100 team ran a 51.33 time, and the 4×400 team ran a 4:30.36 time.
Senior Keenan Phillips and junior Stacey Glenn melded In the field for the Bearcats. Phillips won bronze in the long jump with a distance of 20-00.5. Glenn won bronze in the high jump with a distance of 5-10.00.
Freshman Tatiana Smith, sophomore Walker Elrod and sophomore Abram Anderson competed for Grace Christian Academy at the meet.
Smith competed in the 1600 and 800-meter races, finishing 5th and 7th, respectively, with times of 6:20.36 and 2:51.39.
Elrod competed in the 1600 and 800-meter races, finishing 2nd and 6th, respectively, with times of 4:38.20 and 2:13.03.
Anderson competed in the 800-meter race, finishing 30th with a time of 3:07.20.
