Members of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce gathered across from Memorial Hospital last Thursday to cut the ribbon on a new business, that being Bainbridge Eye Care. Located at 1601 E Shotwell Street, the business had previously been Bainbridge Vision Center with Dr. Frank Flowers, and would briefly be known as Vision Center South after being acquired by new owners, before being purchased by its current owner, Dr. Julia Harrison. “I was just looking for a place to buy around Cairo, I’m originally from Cairo,” Dr. Harrison told the Post-Searchlight, “and I wanted to be closer to family.” Harrison, along with Dr. Flowers, have already seen many old patients return for their services, though they hope to bring in new patients. “We’re trying to bring a younger crowd, because of course, the doctors were older, and their patients grow old with you, it’s just what happens,” Harrison said. “So I’m trying to bring in all-new people as well.” The office has acquired some new equipment as well, such as an optomap retinal imaging machine. Harrison also touted the store’s frame selection, as well as services they offer for conditions like glaucoma and cataracts.“I am super-excited to be here,” Harrison said, “and I’m hoping to carry on the legacy that Dr. Flowers and Dr. Cox had here, and bring it back to what it was.”
