The City of Bainbridge’s services are now available on the go, as the city has created an official app, available for free on both Apple and Android. Residents can read official news releases, city documents and receive alerts through the app, as well as pay their bills.
According to Bainbridge Community Affairs Director Crystal Hines, the city has been planning on implementing an app since 2019.
“It’s been something that we’ve tossed around since probably 2019, and certainly into 2020 with COVID, that was something we had decided to move towards,” Hines said. This app allows the city to consolidate all its outreach and communication in a single place. “Prior to the app we were using several different platforms for communication, whether it was push notifications on cell phones, emergency notifications, social media, a static website, a mobile website, and we just had our stuff all over the place.”
Citizens will also be able to pay their bills from the app. “Every function that was on the website before,” Hines said, clarifying, “Now it has to be a function,” adding that the app is not simply the same a mobile version of the website. She also stated that new features may be added to the app in the future, based on feedback.
“We’re just excited about it,” she said, “it was certainly time to make that move. And so from the aspect of being able to keep all of our things in one place, it will make it a little bit more seamless to communicate.”
