Cheryl Clinton Shattles, age 66, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at her home in Cairo, Georgia, surrounded by her loving family. Services for Mrs. Shattles will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3416 Thomasville Road, Climax, Georgia. The Rev. Tim Dean will officiate. The interment will follow in Cairo Cemetery with Austin Shattles, Zach Shattles, Luke Bauldree, Stephen Wright, Steven Hurst, Rilee Williams, Emmett Thomas, Jr. and Gary Gives, Jr. serving as pallbearers. Darren Groves, Jase Bauldree, Kirby Paulk and Easton Shattles will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.
Cheryl was born December 23, 1957 in Bainbridge, Georgia to David Clinton, Sr. and Lessie Mae Lawrence Clinton. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. Cheryl’s nature was kind and gentle. She was soft spoken with a sweet, shy smile. She loved people and never met a stranger. She was a wonderful cook. Cheryl married the absolute love of her life, Floyd Shattles. She and Floyd were active members of Maranatha Baptist Chuch. Cheryl loved her church and church family. She really enjoyed going to the beach and watching any sporting event where her grandchildren were participating. Cheryl loved coffee from the BP in Cairo. The staff at BP were her special friends. Loved by so many, Cheryl will be deeply missed.
Cheryl Clinton Shattles is survived by her husband of almost 51 years and very best friend, Floyd Shattles, Sr. of Cairo; children, Timothy Daniel Clinton, Sr. (Sarah) of Bainbridge, Georgia, Floyd Shattles, Jr. (Jaci) of Cairo, Chris Shattles (Crystal) of Leesburg, Georgia, April Shattles (Earnie Lowery) of Bainbridge, Tracey Bauldree (Jim) of Cairo, Kimberly Groves (Gary) of Cairo, and Sharon Shattles of Cairo; her siblings, Carol Pollock, Mark Clinton, Rodney Clinton, David Clinton, Rusty Clinton, Sandra Clinton, and Karen Krise; 21 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Robert Hinton, Sr., Juanita Bush, Diane Blum, and Edward Clinton.
The family wants to thank DaVita Dialysis Center staff for the care and love shown to Cheryl during their many visits.
