William Douglas Vickers was born May 14, 1953, in Sneads, FL, the son of Betty McMillan Johnson. After high school, Douglas attended technical school and ultimately retired as a truck driver. He married Lisa Clark in 1980, and they made their home in Southwest Georgia. Douglas was a Christian by faith and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
A sweet spirit and the ability to love unconditionally made Douglas everyone’s friend. In his presence, you felt like the only person on the planet. He enjoyed a gathering especially when it involved cooking & eating and family. Children seemed to gravitate to him, and he relished every minute. Stories of adventures on his motorcycle and shopping with coupons & sale papers cause those who knew him well to grin remembering Douglas.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lisa Clark Vickers; his children, Carrie Ward (Michael) of Leesburg, GA, Leanne Vickers Hall of Bainbridge, Amanda Vickers Williams (Kenneth) of Dothan, and David Tucker (Beverly) also of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Caden, James, Brennen, Elizabeth, Dylan, Johnathan, Carter, Ronna, Meagan, and Chace; and his siblings, Edna Davis, Gail Hadley (Jay), Elizabeth Snellgrove (Allen), Sharon Hoefle (Rick), Bobby Vickers (Cheryl), Jackie Vickers, and Betty Vickers; as well as a host of extended family. In addition to his mother, Douglas was preceded in death by his siblings, Pearl Cook, Earl Vickers, Julie West, and Harold Vickers, Sr.
