A tragic incident occurred early Sunday morning when 39-year-old Stanley Simmons was struck and killed by a Decatur County Sheriff’s Office vehicle. The collision happened at the intersection of Vada Road and Ogerita Street. The sheriff’s vehicle, a 2019 Ford F-150, was responding to a call and was traveling north on Vada Road when it hit Simmons. The Georgia State Patrol’s specialized reconstruction team is investigating the accident. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
