The sport of cross country offers a unique aspect to its participants beyond that of just running: the opportunity to test an athlete’s fitness and mental determination amongst the toughest conditions, rain and mud included. The Bainbridge Bearcats experienced just that this past weekend at the Deerfield Windsor XC Invitational in Albany, GA. The event did not post official team finishes due to an issue with the timing company, but the athletes competed well despite slippery, red-clay trails, deep puddles, and lost shoes. Angalina Gomez led the Lady Cats with a personal best time of 25:27. Gambler Dollar finished first among the boys high school team with a time of 20:04. Bainbridge Middle School also competed at the event, led by Joseph Farmer with a 12:20 finish over the 3000m course.
