Mattie Pearl Owens was born December 17, 1933, in Climax, GA, the daughter of Alvin & Annie Harrell Owens. Pearl and her husband, David Allen Maxwell, made their home in Southwest Georgia. She was a member of Mars Hill Christian Church.

Family was the cornerstone for Pearl, and those who knew her best described her as the glue. Everything about her children and grandchildren was important and provided special bragging rights. For the last decade, she lived with Dana & Don and though her mind began to fail, she continued to voice how blessed she was to be near family.

In her heyday, Pearl enjoyed cooking for the entire passel. There was always a little something to nibble on when you stopped by and plenty to talk about. She was crafty and spent hours knitting or working on crochet projects while listening to gospel music.

Survivors include her children, Jackie & Leroy Starling, Terry Jean Maxwell, Don & Dana Maxwell, Edward & Lisa Maxwell all of Bainbridge, and Jan & Ron Scitzs of Jacksonville; her eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother Tony Page and his wife, Theda, of Dublin. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband and her siblings, Cecil Owens, Wilbur Owens, JR Owens, Doris Happ, and Patsy Cox.
