Willard Ricky Musgrove was born May 1, 1954, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Roland & Evelyn Rentz Musgrove. After high school, Ricky proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a master builder and owned Climax Construction. He was Baptist by faith.
As hard as he tried, Ricky just could not be a grouchy old man. He presented a tough exterior but was complete mush on the inside. Children and animals tendered his heart regularly. He enjoyed being around people and having people around him. Ricky remembered details, and with a quick wit, brought them up at opportune moments. He was known to family and friends as an animal rescuer; notable rescues included an eagle, skunks, and peacocks.
His favorite quote was, “It is what it is.” In business, he made no bones about what was negotiable. Quality was non-negotiable. Ricky’s customers knew his reputation from homeowners and the local churches bragging on his work. In his heyday, work took up most of his time, however, he would sneak off to deer hunt or fish occasionally.
Survivors include his children, Hope Musgrove of Climax and William Ricky “Buddy” Musgrove and his wife, Lauren, of Roswell; his grandchildren, Caroline, Andrew, and Campbell; and his sisters, Joyce Harrison, Phyllis Forrester (Bill), Patricia Shillcutt (Sam), and Mona Musgrove. In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by his siblings, Wanda Musgrove Johnson and Roland Musgrove, Jr.
