The BHS Lady Cats gathered on the field last Thursday afternoon to honor this year’s senior players. This year’s seniors include Abigail Holley, Destiny Lofton, Kylie Miller, Marisa Williams, and Haisten Wilkinson.

Coach Rex Wade spoke fondly of this year’s senior players. “They’ve been a fantastic group of girls the entire time,” he said. “They’re the first group of seniors that came all the way through with me.”

Following the Senior Night recognition, the Lady Cats would go on to play against Seminole County.

Both teams were tied with one point in the first inning, though the second inning saw Seminole gain a lead, putting four points on the board to the Lady Cat’s two. The third inning saw Bainbdige make a successful run for a point, while shutting out Seminole.

The fourth inning saw both teams tie with two points, while the fifth saw Seminole take a huge lead, gaining five points while Bainbridge only scored one. Not to be deterred, the Cats took three runs for themselves in the sixth inning, while Seminole only scored one.

With both teams fluctuating so much in each inning, the game came to a close finish in the seventh inning. The inning began with Seminole at 13, Lady Cats, 10. Seminole finished the inning with 16 on the board. The Lady Cats made a huge comeback in the final inning, bringing in five successful runs, falling just short of tying with Seminole, for a final score of 16-15.

“The girls fought hard for seven innings,” said Coach Wade. “It was a heart-breaker, but you can’t ask more from the girls but to fight.”

The Lady Cats will travel to Peach County on Friday to participate in the first round of playoffs. The double-header will begin at 2:00 PM.
