Grace Christian Academy has welcomed Nathan Nunez as their new Varsity Baseball Coach. Nunez brings years of experience to the table, having played in the semi-pro league after finishing high school, first in Puerto Rico for the teams Los Tigers and The Titans. He was scouted for the teams when he had initially planned on playing for TCC. After returning from Puerto Rico, Nunez would continue in the semi-pros with the Tallahassee Rangers, as well as The Warriors.
Currently, Nunez works as a project manager at Flint River Glass and Mirrors. When asked what drew him to want to coach at Grace, he said it “was the opportunity to not just be a head coach of the team, but to share my baseball knowledge to young men who were in need of a coach to guide them in the right direction.”
When asked about the team for this upcoming season, Nunez replied, “I have a special feeling about this year. I believe we will go a long way this year, with eight returning seniors, as long as we stay healthy and give 101% effort.”
Some standouts on the team include Aiden Whittaker, Noah Smith and Keith Eidson, all of whom Nunez praised for their pitching skills.
“My goal is to teach these young men all the baseball knowledge I’ve been taught and learned from my past coaching experience,” Nunez said, “to also guide them into becoming respectful, hard-working men, while learning more about the game of baseball.” Nunez said his expectation is to make it to the state championship and win it all; “That will always be the drive and expectation I’m aiming for, year after year.”
He concluded by citing Mark 9:23, “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
