Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Hello Bainbridge, my name is Cody Marmon. I am from the Pacific Northwest and I am the new Sports Reporter at The Post-Searchlight. Growing up in Bonney Lake, Washington, and living in the rural area of Maricopa, Arizona, I can identify just how pivotal sports are for youth development and fostering community spirit.

Having cerebral palsy, I spent 14 years undergoing physical therapy at the Good Samaritan in Puyallup, Washington. It was here that my love for sports took root through playing basketball. This passion led me to compete in Special Olympics Basketball, manage the varsity basketball team, and serve as an assistant coach at White River High School. These experiences cemented my belief in the transformative power of sports.

I attended Washington State University as part of the Edward R. Murrow Program and later attended Arizona State University, where I obtained my Masters in Sports Journalism.

The Cronkite Program crafted me into becoming a proficient and detailed writer. I am aware of the high standards set by my predecessors at The Post-Searchlight, and I am grateful to take on the challenge.

I acknowledge the passion and dedication this town has for its student-athletes. With that, these aren’t small shoes to fill, and I look forward to celebrating and promoting the incredible talent in Decatur County.
