Board of Education gives special recognition at December meeting

Thursday evening, DCBOE held their monthly meeting with Keith Lyle calling it to order. Ana Baty, Director of Public Relations, awarded Tina Smith from the First State Bank for sponsoring “Biscuit for the Best” for the Board office.
Dr. Boyd English provided an update on the financial status for the year through November 2024, with revenue at $17,199,513 and expenditures at $20,141,411. He also shared some exciting news about the construction progress at Bainbridge Middle School, stating, “We’re very excited. Our preparations are underway at Bainbridge Middle School. In terms of the move, our teachers, administrators, faculty, and staff are actually moving this week.” He expressed gratitude, saying, “I again want to thank Mr. Matthews, Mr. Calder, and his team for their assistance in the move.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Bainbridge Middle School is scheduled for January, and the performance arts building is expected to be completed in March 2025. With the holiday season approaching, teachers will be on break from December 23 to January 3, and students from December 21 to January 8.
The board also approved action items related to Out of Town/Overnight Field and Personnel.
