Last week, Alicia Hurtt, author of “I See My Baby,” held a soft opening for the Women’s Wellness Center, where she is the Executive Director at 310 S. Scott Street.
Hurtt stated that she opened the center because she felt alone during her journey with infertility, so “she vowed that if God sees me through that, then I want to see other women through that as well.”
The Women’s Wellness Center provides a variety of programs for women who are struggling with pregnancy, infertility, and motherhood through education and physical wellness activities. Hurtt offers a variety of programs and services to help women with their pregnancy journey. For instance, Hurtt is offering “A Ten Week Empowerment Journey” for women to enrich their lives with knowledge on pregnancy. The weeks discuss different aspects that entail mental and physical wellness.
- Week 1-3 explores the idea of fertility and ways to approach conception through medical or holistic means.
- Week 4-6 explains emotional well-being on loss, mental health, and pregnancy challenges.
- Week 7-10 focuses on how to build or obtain a community or support system.
The Women Wellness Center is a tangible space, but Hurtt stated that she existed virtually for a year helping women from different states overcome their struggles with pregnancy. Hurtt also provided annual retreats to help with women’s empowerment. She stated, “We did annual retreats last year. We did them in Brandywine, Maryland. This year we did it in Jamaica. Throughout the year, we focused on women’s empowerment. So, we have connections with counselors, and doulas, literally nationwide.”
Furthermore, Hurtt provides additional resources like books, classes, seminars, and webinars. To learn more about Hurtt’s amazing journey into motherhood, the Women’s Wellness Center or register for classes, go to https://iseemybaby.org/community-support/our-program/.
