The Auburn Alumni and 70 Plus Super Senior teams captured the two flight championships Monday in the 14th annual Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA Steve Underwood Memorial Partners With Youth Golf Tournament at Bainbridge Country Club.
On the Auburn Alumni team, which won the Gold Flight, were Woody Warr, Todd Mills, YMCA board of directors president Bill Reynolds and Phillip Greene.
On the 70 plus Super Senior team were Drane Smith, Steele Malone, Jim Novak and Julian Branch.
Each year the tournament, which is played in honor and memory of a late former YMCA board of directors president, is played under a four-person scramble format with each player hitting his second shot from the spot of the longest drive.
After the tournament, Ken Bailey, CEO of the YMCA, said 15 teams competed in two separate flights, and the YMCA raised between $6,000 and 7,000.
“Their efforts to play and raise money will help provide financial assistance to local youth and families who cannot afford membership dues and program fees,” Bailey said. “We appreciate all the teams coming out and playing. It was a nice day and everyone seemed to have a good time. It couldn’t have gone better.”
