Lady Cats teams win four

Coach Eugene Singletary’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats summer softball teams won four games Tuesday and Wednesday at their annual Summer Blast Tournament at Bill Reynolds Sports Park.
The varsity won three, and the junior varsity won one.
The varsity opened Tuesday’s play with a 5-3 win over the Lanier County High School Lady Bulldogs scoring all five of their runs in the fifth inning.
Center fielder Anna Barber opened the inning with a single and moved up to second on an error. She came in on a single by right fielder Jocelyn Beard.
Natasha Green drew a walk with one away, moving Beard up to second and third baseman Diamond Bouie singled, driving Beard and Green home. The inning’s final two runs were scored by Bouie and first baseman Caitlin Cato, who singled.
Also on Tuesday, the varsity Lady Cats defeated the Cairo High School Syrupmaids 9-4. Their big-scoring inning was the first when they rallied for six runs,
Key blows in the inning were a two-run double by Caitlyn Dunlap, an RBI single by Kristen Bennett and a two-run single by Anna Barber.
In Tuesday’s final game, the Lady Cats junior varsity defeated the Seminole County High School junior varsity Lady Indians 11-4. They put the game away with a seven-run, fourth-inning rally.
The inning was highlighted by RBI singles by Megan Vaughn and Brittany Moore.
On Wednesday’s final day of competition, the Lady Cats varsity shut out the Early County High School Lady Bobcats 13-0.
