Riverside Artsfest organizers couldn’t have asked for nicer weather to accompany the music during their 21st annual event.

Although Artsfest closes this afternoon with the last day of an Rhode Island and Regional Art exhibit in the Firehouse Gallery from noon to 5 p.m., good music, good food and good friends have been mixed together harmoniously all week.

Charlie Kirbo and Adam Starr skillfully performed blues and classic rock favorites on their guitars as their audience relaxed in the breezy, sunny weather during Friday’s Artsfest Brown Bag concert.

The Flint River Sound, a local jazz band headed by Bainbridge High School Band Director Paschal Ward, performed several relaxing jazz numbers as part of Artsfest 2009’s opening ceremonies on Wednesday.

Preceding the Flint River Sound were members of the West Bainbridge Middle School Chorus, under the direction of Leah Ritt, performed a medley of Ray Charles songs.

Violinist Mark Russell enjoyed entertaining a crowd in Bainbridge’s Willis Park during Thursday’s Brown Bag.

Previous events during this year’s Artsfest were: the Balalaika Group’s Russian dance performance at Bainbridge High School last October; chamber music by the ETA-3 Trio of New York, N.Y., in January; a concert featuring Florida State University Jazz Ensemble and Leon Anderson Jr. in February; and a writers’ workshop headed up by Dr. Patrick Smith in February.
