Young Bearcats win two of three

The Bainbridge middle school Bearcats’ baseball team has opened strong, winning two of their first three games.
In their opener on Feb. 17 against the Whigham Middle School Indians, coach David Kirkland’s Bearcats won 16-0.
They followed that up with a 12-0 victory over Baconton on the road on Feb. 20 .
This past Tuesday, Feb. 24, they bowed 11-2 to the Marianna (Fla.) Middle School Bulldogs on the road.
The big scoring inning for the Bearcats in their opening win over Whigham was the second when they scored eight runs. Key blows in the inning were two run singles by shortstop Ryals Smith and third baseman Chris Dobbs.
The Bearcats scored three runs in the first inning on their way to their shutout win over Baconton. The big blow of the inning was a two-run home run by catcher Blake Voyles. Center fielder Miguel Williams doubled in the third run.
Center fielder Noah Thorn opened the second inning with a double and came home on an RBI single by second baseman Smith. Catcher Voyles drove in Smith with a single.
The Bearcats scored both of their runs in the first inning against Marianna. Second baseman Smith led off the inning with a walk and moved up on a single by third baseman Kyle Horn.
A sacrifice by right fielder Jackson Jones moved the runners to second and third and they came in to score on a single by centerfielder Williams.
