A memorial service for Bettye Hudson White, 69, of Barnesville, Ga., will be Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at Bainbridge First United Methodist Church.
As there was no local visitation, the family will greet friends after the service. Interment will be in Mississippi on Saturday, July 16.
Born in Louisville, Miss., on Dec. 12, 1941, to the late Aubrey Smith Holder and Eunice Hatcher Holder, Mrs. White, died on Friday, July 8, 2011, in a Macon health care facility.
Mrs. White made her home in Bainbridge for most of her life, before recently moving to Barnesville. She was a retired professor from Bainbridge College, where she taught for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Bainbridge First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, R.C. White of Barnesville; two sons, Joe Hudson and his wife, Darlene, of Franklin, N.C., and Harold Hudson and his wife, Kate, of Atlanta; one stepson, Ben White and his wife, Lisa Reeves, of Bainbridge; one stepdaughter, Minora Edenfield and her husband, Vince, of Donalsonville, Ga.; one brother, Harland Hatcher and his wife, Ann, of Ackerman, Miss.; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to a scholarship fund set up in her memory at Bainbridge College.
Williams Funeral Home in Barnesville, Ga., will be in charge of arrangements.
