Funeral services for Mrs. Sybil Wilson Sawyer, 84, of Brinson, will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Donna Bevels, the Rev. James Scarborough, and the Rev. Roy Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery. Visitation will be held immediately following the service at the church.
Born November 30, 1926 in Leary, Ga., Mrs. Sawyer passed away Saturday, Aug. 6 at her residence in Brinson.
Mrs. Sawyer was the daughter of the late Perry Joseph and Dollie Alday Wilson. She was a homemaker, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school in the children’s department for many years. She also was a volunteer at the State Hospital in Bainbridge.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 69 years, Norman Sawyer of Brinson; two daughters, Norma Gambrell and her husband Barry of Greenville, S.C.; Gail Trolinger and her husband Jody of Bainbridge; brother, Larry Wilson and his wife Lois of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Jewell Knight of Mineral Wells, Texas; She is also survived by grandchildren, Shaye Gambrell of Athens, Ga., Clifford Gambrell of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Jennifer Hall of Brinson, Joey Whittington of Bainbridge, Paul Trolinger of Newnan, Ga., Kevin Trolinger of Valdosta, Ga., Patrick Trolinger of Bainbridge; as well as 10 great-grandchildren, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry Joseph and Dollie Alday Wilson; five brothers and two sisters.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
