Funeral services for James Earl Smith, 90, of Bainbridge, will be held at Thursday, July 30, at 1 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen L. Webb officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.
Born in Kentucky on April 8, 1919, Mr. Smith died on Monday, July 27, 2009, at Emory Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Ga., due to complications of pneumonia.
Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired building contractor, having worked the last several years at BFM Inc. He was a Boy Scout leader and volunteer for many years, and a member of V.F.W. Post 4904. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle McDowell Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Nell Smith Rich of Stone Mountain, Ga.; his sister, Louise Sturgis of Perry, Ga.; a grandson and other family and friends.
