Funeral services for Lottie Brown Martin, 90, of Bainbridge, were held Sunday, July 19, at Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in West Bainbridge with the Rev. Calvin Reynolds officiating.
Interment followed in the cemetery of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Earnest Martin Jr., Edward Martin, Gregory Martin, Leonard Martin, Lennon Martin and Stephen Martin serving as active pallbearers.
Born Sept. 22, 1918, in Decatur County, Ga., Mrs. Martin died on Wednesday, July 15, 2009.
Mrs. Martin attended Decatur County public schools and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (elementary schools) from Albany State University. She was retired from a teaching career after 38 years of service at West Bainbridge Elementary School.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Martin Sr.; and a daughter, Lillian Yeager.
Survivors include four children, Earnest Martin Jr. of Bainbridge, Lennon Martin of Southfield, Mich., Robert Martin of Pasadena, Calif., and Edward Martin of Tallahassee, Fla.; a son-in-law, Steve Yeager of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Aaron Brown of New Orleans, La.; four grandchildren, and other family and friends.
Guyton Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
