Marion Johns

Funeral services for Marion C. “Bud” Johns, 83, of Faceville were held Monday, June 1, at Faceville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donna Sue Roberts officiating.

Interment followed at Sylvania Cemetery with David Whigham, Chris Moore, Christopher Butch, Ryan Butch, Sam Jacobs and Robert Horton serving as active pallbearers.

Born Aug. 17, 1925, in the Recovery community of Decatur County, Mr. Johns died on Friday, May 29, 2009, at his residence.

He was a graduate of Faceville High School, Class of 1944, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a sheet metal mechanic and instructor at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, N.C., and a member of Faceville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Caprell Duke Johns of Faceville; four daughters, Barbara Johns Whigham of Warner Robins, Ga., Jan Johns Butch of Swansboro, N.C., Vicky Johns Jacobs and Jackie Johns Horton, both of Greenville, N.C.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
