Wayne Davis

Funeral services for Wayne A. “Red” Davis, 70, of Hapeville, Ga., were held Monday, Oct. 20, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen L. Webb officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Mr. Davis was born in Mitchell County, Ga., and passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1956 where he was captain of the football team. He attended Troy State University and served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent more than 25 years in the carpet industry with Columbus Mills, White Crest, and Patcraft Industries. A fan of all sports, he was in particular a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan. He was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous and helped dozens of people by serving as their sponsor and friend.
Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Wood of Newnan, Ga.; his son, Wayne Albert Davis Jr. and his wife, Alexandra of Smyrna, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Lauren Wood, Seth Wood, and Wayne A. “Cal” Davis III.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
