The Bainbridge Middle School seventh grade Bearcats defeated the McIntyre Park Middle School seventh grade Bulldogs 30-6 Wednesday at Thomasville’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Running back Trey Stubbs got the scoring started when he ran 32 yards for a touchdown with 4:52 remaining in the first quarter. Running back Elijah Tyler ran in for the two point conversion to make it 8-0.

The Bearcats increased their advantage to 14-0 when quarterback Tyree Crump completed a 71-yard touchdown pass to Tyler with 5:48 showing on the second quarter clock. The extra point try was no good.

On the last play of the second quarter, Tyler ran a reverse, broke into the open, and ran 47 yards for a touchdown.

Running back Elsmar Williams ran left for the two-point conversion and the Bearcats ran off with a 22-0 halftime lead.

With 6:30 left in the third quarter, Tyler ran 68 yards for a touchdown and ran in for the two-point conversion to put the Bearcats up 30-0.

The Bulldogs’ lone touchdown came on a 17-yard fourth quarter run by their quarterback.

Following the game, Bearcats seventh grade football coordinator David Kirkland praised his players and coaching staff.

“Our players played hard all the way and took a lot of pride in their effort,” Kirkland said. “Our coaches did a great job preparing them.”

Joining Kirkland on the seventh grade coaching staff are coaches Chip Ariail, Heith Maxwell and Scott Miller.

The seventh grade Bearcats, who are 1-1 on the season, will have an open date next Thursday. They will return to action Thursday, Sept. 22 when they host the Washington Middle School seventh grade Tigers from Cairo at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field.
