The Bainbridge City Council held a public hearing Tuesday night to discuss the 2011 fiscal year operating budget, with little participation.

Only Bainbridge resident Ted Snell addressed the council. Snell asked that the proposed employee raises included in the draft budget be funded from the city’s reserve fund. The council is considering a 2011 budget that would include employee raises—either across the board for all city employees or pay raises based on merit.

The council voted to declare seven city-owned items as surplus and to be made available at auction on govdeals.com. Included in the lot are a 2002 Crown Victoria from public safety, a Volvo sanitation truck, a 1990 GMC truck from the parks department, and various equipment tires.

Circle B Contracting was the winning bidder to pave five basketball courts at the expansion of Bill Reynolds Sports Park. The winning bid totaled $37,658.43 and includes the equipment and labor, with the city providing the asphalt, to complete the courts.

A bill from the City of Pelham in the amount of $4,410 for inmate housing was also approved.
