The public will have an opportunity to meet the seven candidates, one of whom will likely replace Bainbridge College President Tom Wilkerson.
“The Presidential Search and Screen Committee completed its first round of interviews and has scheduled our semi-finalist interviews for August and September,” said Tonya Strickland, chairman of the committee.
In an e-mail to The Post-Searchlight, Strickland said on Mondays and Thursdays during August and September, the candidates will be guests at community receptions at the Charles H. Kirbo Regional Center’s foyer and solarium from 6 to 7 p.m.
The schedule for the candidates are the following: Candidate 1, Monday, Aug. 23; candidate 2, Thursday, Aug. 26; candidate 3, Monday, Aug. 30; candidate 4, Thursday, Sept. 2; candidate 5, Thursday, Sept. 16; candidate 6, Monday, Sept. 20; and candidate 7, Thursday, Sept. 23.
“The process is still confidential, so I will release the name of each candidate the day before the interview,” Strickland said. “The community is invited to meet each candidate from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Kirbo Center on the day of the interview. We will have a form at our presidential search site for feedback on the candidates.”
Following the interviews, the committee will submit the names of three to five unranked finalists to Rob Watts, chief operating officer for the Board of Regents.
Watts, Chancellor Erroll B. Davis and the Special Regents Search Committee will then interview those finalists. That committee will advise Davis, who will make the final recommendation to the Board of Regents.
The timeline outlined in April suggested that the new president be named in October.
Wilkerson, who was appointed the college’s president in 2005, is set to retire at the end of the year.
