Former Bainbridge High School basketball player James Lodman Jr. is making a name for himself at the Enterprise-Ozark (Ala.) Community College Boll Weevils.

He was named to the All-Alabama Community College Conference’s Southern Division second team.

“James Lodman was a three-year starter for us and was very instrumental in us reaching the State Class AAAA Final Four in the 2008-2009 season,” Bearcats head basketball coach Rickey McCullough said.

“He was always a great kid and we knew he would get better and better at the college level.”

Enterprise-Ozark coach David James also had words of praise for Lodman.

“James Lodman is a good shooter and has good defensive quickness,” James said.

Lodman, who stands 6 feet, 1 inch and weighs 195 pounds, is poised to have another strong season as a sophomore in 2010-2011.

Lee Thomas, who coached Lodman on his summer Bainbridge Dynasty Amateur Athletic Union (AU)) basketball team for two years, described him as a really hard worker who constantly starved to improve his game.

Lodman, son of James Lodman Sr. and Cassandra Paris, was an All-Region 1-AAAA selection as a Bearcats senior.

A very versatile player, who averaged in double figures for the Boll Weevils as a freshman, has played effectively at both point guard and shooting guard.

In the Boll Weevils’ 2009-2010 season, Lodman played in 28 games, averaging 15.71 points per game. He had a 40.6 field goal percentage with a 74.2 percent free throw percentage. He averaged 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
