Be ready when Jesus returns

The Bible tells us that Jesus is coming back one day.

No one knows the day nor the hour except God our Father. However, he loves us enough not to be in the dark by giving us his Holy Word, the Bible, to read and obey.

The Bible tells us in the book of Matthew Chapter 24, verse 26-31: “So if anyone tells you there he is out in the desert, do not go out in the desert, do not go out or, here he is, in the inner rooms, do not believe it. For as lighting that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the son of man. Wherever there is a carcass, there the vulture will gather. Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time, the son of man will appear in the sky and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the son of man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and glory. And he will send his angles with a loud trumpet call and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”

Recently, I preached two funerals back to back and I asked the congregation, “if Jesus came back at that moment, would they be ready to go back with him?”

I observed some unsure faces from the congregation.

This is serious business, but many will not take heed to God’s word until it is sad too late.

Last weekend I flew to Charlotte, N.C., to perform my daughter’s wedding. I asked the crowd the same question. Also, there were many unsure and blank faces.

The Bible speaks of when Jesus returns, there will be marrying and partying going on just like in the days of Noah during the flood. Many will not believe, but will go on doing what they normally do and not take heed to God’s warning.

God does not want anybody lost, that is why he gave his only Son to die on the cross for the entire world.

The Bible also says that it is appointed once for man to die and after that is the judgment. That means we will be judged for whatever deeds we have done in the body, whether it is good or bad. But, we must know that God is a forgiving

God and his love for us is so great.

When I was coming up in Plant City, Fla., people used to care and look out for each other.

Today, times have changed.

Everyone is for self and trying to get ahead. God has been good to us and has been better to us than we have been to Him.

He will forgive us if only surrender our lives to him and live for the Lord. He is coming back for the church; his blood-washed believers and take us to the place he has prepared for his people who has lived for him. The Lord build his church on Peter’s confession, therefore we must do all we can to live for Christ.

Attending church gives us strength, hope and security when we hear the word of God preached and taught.

Now is the day of Salvation, do not let it pass you by.

Jesus is waiting so let Him come in today.

Tomorrow is not promised.

The signs of Jesus return are evident, and he wants us to go back with him. Go to church and serve the Lord while you can. Seek the Lord while he may be found and draw to him while he is near.

Work while it is day because at night no man can work.
