Rising senior Bainbridge High School Bearcats catcher Drew Kelley will be in Atlanta this Monday and Tuesday, June 28 and 29, competing in two games in front of more than 100 college and 26 major league scouts.
He was chosen as one of the top 100 baseball prospects in the state June 15 at a Georgia Dugout Club Top 100 Underclassman Showcase at Middle Georgia College in Cochran.
Monday and Tuesday’s games will be played at Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw.
The Georgia Dugout Club holds tryouts at 12 college campuses across the state each year during June.
Atlanta Braves scout Hugh Buchanen put together a group of college and pro scouts to do evaluations of approximately 1,100 potential prospects and choose the state’s top 100 prospects.
An outstanding defensive catcher, Kelley won the Golden Glove Award at the Bearcats baseball awards banquet. He threw out 50 percent of the base runners attempting to steal while helping lead Coach Scott Miller’s Bearcats to a 15-11 record, and a berth in the first round of the State Class AAAA playoffs.
