Mamie Herring

Funeral services for Mamie Lou Herring, 83, of Colquitt, Ga., were held on Thursday, July 29, at Oakview Church of God with the Rev. James Scarborough and Jack Herring officiating.

Born Feb. 25, 1927, in Brinson, Mrs. Herring died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Miller County Hospital.

Mrs. Herring attended Oakview Church of God where she was a member of the Women of Grace and the Prime Timers. She worked as a clerk/interior designer in the furniture business.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Herring; a daughter, Marsha Herring; a son, Warren Herring; four brothers, Emory Burke, Euly Burke, Larry Burke and Julius Burke; and three sisters, Myra Taylor, Lorene Lolley and Annette Allen.

Survivors include a son, Donny Herring of Sebring, Fla.; a daughter, Sue Dunlap of the Eldorendo community; a brother, Ray Burke of Donalsonville, Ga.,; a grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
