Funeral services for Joy Gilliard Lindsey, 79, of Cairo, were held on Tuesday, June 8, at Pine Forest Baptist Church with the Rev. Stan Godwin and Pastor Mike Nichols officiating.

James Jenkins, Steve Anderson, John Joyner, Brian Harrell, Tommy Webb and Gwen (Dub) Ridley served as pallbearers.

Born on Dec. 4, 1930, in Grady County. Mrs. Lindsey died on June 5, 2010. She worked 46 years as a payroll clerk for Warner Industries, and she was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Lindsey; a brother, John Andrew; and three sisters, Gertrude Gilliard, Elois Pearce and Lorene Glover.

She is survived by her children, Mike Lindsey of Bainbridge, Greg Lindsey, Donna Walker and Deanna Baggett, all of Cairo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
