Houston Morris

Funeral services for Houston V. Morris, 91, of Donalsonville, were held on Friday, May 28, in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Trawick officiating.

Interment followed at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville with members of the Georgia State Patrol, including, TFC Jeromy Roberts, Cpl. Kyle Duke, TFC John Kirkus, Trooper Brian Palmer, Senior Trooper Charles Hall and retired Master Trooper David Ellis serving as active pallbearers.

Born in Seminole County on May 16, 1919, Mr. Morris died on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville.

Mr. Morris worked as a mechanic until his retirement and was an inactive member of Hammock Springs Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lola Mavis Morris; two brothers, Walter Morris and Thomas Morris; and three sisters, Ossie Mathis, Eva Lynn and Rossie Morris.

Survivors include a son, Durwood Morris and his wife, Phyllis, of Donalsonville; two granddaughters, Amy Long of Donalsonville and Jennifer Brown of Bainbridge; two great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Joyce Morris of Donalsonville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
