Mabel Shiver

Funeral services for Mabel Wylene Cross Shiver, 59, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held Monday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Flat Creek Baptist Church near Blakely, Ga., with the Revs. Ed Sells and Robert Johns officiating.
Interment followed in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Ray Peterson, Lavon Chandler, Edward Whittaker, Joe Wilson, Lanny Williams and Ricky Smith serving as active pallbearers.
Born April 12, 1951, in Donalsonville, Ga., Mrs. Shiver died on Friday, May 7, 2010, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.
She was a member of the Miller County High School Class of 1969 where she was a star basketball player. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker. Sewing and gardening were two of her favorite pastimes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, J.M. Cross, and a niece, Jill Cook.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Joe Shiver of Donalsonville; a son, Les Shiver of Donalsonville; a daughter, Carla Foster of Donalsonville; three brothers, Louie Cross, Buddy Cross and Robin Cross, all of Donalsonville, as well as a special brother, Brad Helms, also of Donalsonville; three sisters, Faye Rutledge, Sara Cook and Jackie Alday, all of Donalsonville; a special friend, Jan Anderson, of Donalsonville; five grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
