Bainbridge Public Safety arrested a 30-year-old man Wednesday night after he allegedly fired gun shots into two vehicles parked outside a residence, according to an incident report.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday night, BPS officers were dispatched to a report of a possible burglary in progress at a home on Lake Circle Drive, off Lake Douglas Road. However, instead of a burglar, they found a man carrying a rifle who was later identified as William Walker Suber, 30, of 431 E. Water Street in Bainbridge.

The complainant stated she had arrived home and recognized Suber’s truck parked outside her home. She stated she believed Suber was inside the house because upon returning home, she saw more lights on than she remembered leaving on when she left.

More alarming was the victim’s observation that there were bullet holes in the toolbox and window of a pickup truck belonging to her friend—not Suber’s—which was also parked in the driveway.

As three BPS officers walked through the home’s front yard, one of them observed movement and a moment later, Suber exited the home toting a rifle.

The report stated, “Officers all began giving verbal commands to drop the weapon and to get on the ground. Officers continually commanded Suber to drop the weapon at gun point.”

After a few seconds, Suber put down the gun and he was arrested without incident, although he later gave officers problems while he was being booked at Public Safety and made a statement threatening the victim, according to the incident report.

While investigating the crime scene outside the home, BPS Investigator Chris Jordan discovered the victim’s sedan had also been shot twice. Jordan retrieved evidence at the scene, including spent casings, spent rounds and photos of the damage to the vehicles.

While Suber declined to make a statement to Investigator Jordan, the victim had made previous complaints about allegedly being harrassed by Suber.

Suber was taken to the Decatur County Jail and charged with burglary, two counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
