Lady Cats win two, improve to 12-4

The Bainbridge High School softball team won two out of three games this week to improve their overall record to 12-4.
On Monday, the Lady Cats jumped out to a 7-0 first inning lead and went on to defeat the Thomasville High School Lady Bulldogs 14-13 at the new BHS softball field.
In their second home game of the week, on Tuesday, they defeated the Americus-Sumter County Lady Panthers 14-2.
The Lady Cats’ lone setback of the week came Wednesday, when they were edged 14-13 by Thomasville’s Lady Bulldogs in Thomasville.
Shortstop Briana Wade opened the Lady Cats’ first in their Monday home meeting against Thomasville with a single and promptly stole second. She came in on a single by center fielder Diamond Bouie.
Bouie stole second, went to third on an error and came in ahead of winning pitcher Caitlyn Cato. Cato walked and stole second, on a single by catcher Morgan Powell.
Powell went to second when left fielder Tiffany Hand grounded out from second to first. With two away, second baseman Avis Jackson reached on an error and Powell and right fielder April Thomas, who walked, came in to score.
Jackson moved up on an error and came in to score on a single by third baseman Bria Harris, who was singled home by shortstop Wade.
In their win against Americus-Sumter County on Tuesday, the Lady Cats went ahead 2-0 in the first.
Shortstop Briana Wade led off the inning with a single then stole second and third bases. Wade came in to score when Bouie, who walked, stole second. A two-out single by second baseman Tiffany Hand drove in Bouie.
The Lady Cats’ big scoring inning was the third, when they rallied for seven runs. Second baseman Hand, right fielder April Thomas, first baseman Kristen Bennett, pitcher Avis Jackson and third baseman Bria Harris all had RBI singles in the inning.
The Lady Cats jumped out to a 3-1 first inning lead in their Wednesday loss to Thomasville. The runs were scored by Bouie, who walked, Cato, who singled, and Hand, who reached on a fielder’s choice.
