Funeral services for Raymond A. Miles, 85, of Bainbridge, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Medley, Dr. Danny Shepard and the Rev. Troy Fripp officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Hal Brannen, Charles Tyson, Dan Daniel, Erwin Harrell, Charles Bowles, Monroe Godwin, Jack Leverett and Tom Gates serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Miles was born May 9, 1925, in Schley County, Ga., the son of Oscar Miles and Bessie Sorrells Miles. He died on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He moved to Bainbridge in 1960, and founded Miles Insurance and Realty Company. He served on the Decatur County Board of Commissioners and Georgia Real Estate Commission, and was a member of the Bainbridge Rotary Club, Orion Lodge # 8 F.&A.M., Bainbridge Shrine Club and Hasan Shrine Temple.
He was past president of Southwest Georgia Board of Realtors, past president of Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of Committee of 100, past chairman of Bainbridge-Decatur County Industrial Development Authority, past president of Bainbridge Lions Club, past chairman of Downtown Development Authority, past chairman of Bainbridge Housing Authority, past chairman of Bainbridge College Foundation and past chairman of Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA.
He was a deacon and finance chairman of First Baptist Church and a member of the Penny-Lambert Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Weldon Miles, James Miles and Glenn Miles; and his daughter-in-law, Janice Boutwell Miles.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Wynema “Sam” Miles of Bainbridge; his son, Larry Miles of Bainbridge; his daughters, Diane M. Ivey and her husband, Dick, of Bainbridge, and Tammi L. Godwin and her husband, Lee, of Bainbridge; his brother, Clinton Miles of Albany, Ga.; his sisters, Elois M. Fripp of Ellaville, Betty M. Holland of Cordele and Patricia M. Clemons of Buena Vista; his grandchildren, Jennifer Miles, Amy Ivey Andrews and her husband, Jason, Valerie Miles Davis and her husband, Bryan, Melissa Miles Cundiff and her husband, Michael, Richard F. Ivey Jr., Mary Beth Ivey Smith and her husband, Steven, and Tyler Godwin; and his great-grandchildren, Logan Davis, Mallie Kate Andrews, Miles Cundiff, Jackson Davis, Avery Andrews, Andrew Smith and Sutton Andrews.
