Trojans like to throw the football

The Lee County High School Trojans—the Bainbridge High School Bearcats Region 1AAAA and homecoming opponent Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field—are averaging more than 400 yards a game throwing the football.
Trojans quarterback Justin Walker has completed 149 of 240 passes for 2,158 yards and 30 touchdowns.
The Trojans, who are 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the Region, also have the top three receivers in the Region.
Sanford Seay leads the way with 41 receptions for 709 yards and eight touchdowns. He has averaged 17.3 yards a reception.
Seay is also second in the Region in all purpose yards with 1,139 yards. In addition to his 709 receiving yards, he has 58 yards rushing and 372 yards in kickoff returns.
Second and third on the Region receptions chart are the Trojans James Terrell and Denzel Eckles.
Terrell has 37 receptions for 510 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has averaged 13.8 yards a reception.
Eckles has 32 receptions for 370 yards. He has averaged 11.6 yards a reception and scored three touchdowns.
Eckles is also the Trojans’ leading rusher with 52 carries for 303 yards, a 5.8 yards per carry average and one touchdown.
Bearcats head coach Ed Pilcher says the Trojans just run enough to keep the defense honest.
Defensively, the Trojans are led by Jamarkus Terrell and Vernorris Hayes. Terrell has 51 tackles, 35 solo and 16 assisted. He has one tackle for a loss.
Hayes has 50 tackles, 29 solo and 21 assisted. Six of his tackles have been for a loss.
